Special Issue on ET-EVS

Emerging Technologies in Electric Vehicle Systems

The environmental challenges and energy crises have given rise to a range of social and economic concerns, prompting efforts to embrace renewable, clean energy sources. Consequently, the electrification of transportation is viewed as a promising solution to decrease carbon emissions, pollution, and reduce reliance on finite, non-renewable natural resources. The feasibility for monitoring the condition and longevity of electric vehicle (EV) batteries have increased. Despite ongoing advancements in battery diagnostic technologies, there remain numerous obstacles in accurately forecasting aspects like battery state of health (SOH), cycle life, remaining useful life (RUL), fault detection, and performance under adverse conditions in real-world settings. Efficiency is a critical factor in enhancing the mileage of electric vehicles, particularly in the current era of rapid electric vehicle development which enhance various aspects of motor performance. The advanced technology utilized in Power Electronics Converters for electric vehicle (EV) charging, highlighting their notable advancements. Additionally, it introduces the grid impact challenges associated with the integration of electric vehicles into the power grid. Data-driven methodologies present fresh avenues for smarter approaches, thereby expediting the transition of technological advancements from academia to practical engineering applications.

Electrical and computer engineers are at the cutting edge of technological advancement, actively involved in shaping the design, creation, testing, and production of the next wave of devices and machinery. In their quest for innovation, these experts often find themselves exploring the ever-expanding realm of artificial intelligence applications. Advancements in fields such as machine learning and deep learning have had a profound impact on virtually every sector and scientific domain, including the field of engineering. Experts in machine learning and electrical engineering harness the power of AI to construct and enhance systems while supplying AI technology with fresh data inputs for analysis.
